30th Gene Key Breakdown
Learn about the 30th gene key theme, it's role in your behavior, & how you can use this awareness to transform your life.
Overview
In order to take advantage of the CTD Method and how it works, you must know what each Gene Key really means and how it relates to you. In the CTD membership, there will be a post and podcast episode for each Gene Key, breaking down the themes so you can relate it to your life as clearly as possible. This material is different than The Gene Keys book published by the founder, Richard Rudd. I highly recommend you have his book on hand as it provides the original teachings of each Gene Key, which is far more in depth.
The posts like this, however, are meant to translate the material to help it make more sense. Often there are reports that the book feels dense or confusing, so I want to use my personal interpretation, with yeeears of exploring The Gene Keys, personal development, and neuro-psychology, to inform of what each Gene Key is all about.
If you ever have any questions about a specific Gene Key and something that’s listed in the post, or requests as to what you’d like to see in these posts to help you even more, than let me know! For now, each Gene Key will be highlighted in a written post, podcast episode with a guest feature of someone with that specific Gene Key, and a case study to showcase how people are exploring these themes in their life.
One Gene Key will be dropped each week following the dates of the Chinese I’Ching calendar! So stay tuned for when yours make an appearance 👀
Gene Key 30
Central Theme
The central theme of the 30th gene key is to shift from an internal state of Desire to Lightness to Rapture. At the genetic level, this Gene Key has a purpose to get human beings to make mistakes so that we as a species can learn our limits and evolve. To survive, we must master our ever-changing environment and conditions around us. Because of this, we must have an impulse like Desire to urge us to crave experiences so that we can figure out what needs to change or happen to keep us alive and thriving. As we’ve evolved from needing this genetic pattern to survive daily, the Shadow of Desire has evolved to the Gift of Lightness to no longer be victims of our desires but instead, become allies with them to transcend to our potential without getting in our own way as a species.
Shadow: Desire
The Shadow of a Gene Key is a genetic evolutionary survival pattern that is fueled by fear to protect you. Naming and understanding the shadow’s purpose helps you recognize the role that pattern is playing in your life so you can change it.
The 30th Shadow of “Desire” is one we can all closely relate to as human beings. Since we all learn and evolve through trial and error, we feel a genetic yearning to engage with the world so we can grow. Desire is not just sexual in nature, but simply the pure emotional impulse that pulls us out into the world to satisfy a yearning we have for experiencing all that life has to offer (the darker and lighter sides).
Desire objectively is not a negative or troublesome thing and is necessary for our evolution as individuals and a collective species. Richard Rudd elaborates on this dynamic by saying, “It is as though humanity operates like nature’s brain, with desire providing the force that opens up all manner of neural networks within that brain. Some neutral connections lead to short circuits while others open us up to great leaps in awareness. All possible connections must be tried and tested in order to discover which are of the greatest service to the totality.”
Desire, however, becomes a Shadow when our reaction and relationship to our desires creates suffering. As you’ve likely learned, Desire can never be satiated. As soon as the hunger of Desire is fulfilled, a new one takes it’s place and the cycle of yearning starts all over again.
“Fighting an evolutionary force as powerful as desire is what causes human beings so much suffering in the first place.”
Your perspective change on Desire is what will free you from the suffering you feel in response to it. You must understand the greater purpose for Desire is to help you evolve and embrace it as part of this human experience. Many religions or cultures shame human beings for following their desires or encourage people to rid themselves of Desire and it’s simply not possible to do so.
Yes, pursuing a Desire may caught you to make mistakes, experience discomfort, or face challenges, but you wouldn’t be able to rise to your potential without it. Reframe Desire as your ally to grow and you’ll transform your suffering into fuel for success.
Repressive Nature: Over-Serious
The repressive nature of a Shadow is the freeze/fawn response to fear in your nervous system. Over-Serious is the result of repressing desire so that the fire within us dies out. Many religions or cultural ideologies encourage this state to impose moral laws against our natural desires. As a result, we take life too seriously and try to bend our nature to fit predetermined expectations and drain our life force.
Reactive Nature: Flippant
The reactive nature of a Shadow is the fight/flight response to fear in your nervous system. Flippant is the state of indulging your desires without intention or care. This type of Desire rules your life by burning you out through exhaustive experiences. This may manifest as being rebellious towards authority or societal constraints, but can lead to overdoing it without boundaries to engaging with your desires purposefully.
Gift: Lightness
The Gift of a Gene Key is the evolved genetic pattern beyond the Shadow that, when embodied, works as a remedy to reprogram the fear within your nervous system and release the Shadow’s hold on you. Embodying the Gift helps you relearn safety to live from trust instead of fear and therefore, reach your potential in any area of life.
The 30th Gift of “Lightness” as opposed to the Shadow of Desire represents the paradox of reality. Escaping the suffering that can come with our inevitable desires happens when we loosen our attachment and expectations associated with those desires. For example, if you desire to pursue a Master’s degree to satiate your curiosity for an area of study instead of the desire to satiate the need for approval from your parents, the experience you have to fulfill that desire will feel a lot lighter.
“The human mind is incredibly serious about life because it so wants to understand and control existence. The 30th Gift however is a new operating wavelength for humanity, and it really involves an inner surrender that cannot be forced or faked.”
By embodying this Gift, you become allies with your desires instead of a victim of them. You recognize that not all desires have to be pursued but they must be acknowledged and felt fully (and not repressed or reacted to) before acting on them (or not) intentionally. Even more importantly, there is a freedom and Lightness that arises when you no longer expect that fulfilling a desire will complete you or bring you peace. You will never be fully satiated and that’s by design! The addictive nature of that yearning dies down so you can be at one with trusting where life is taking you.
If this Gift is in your profile, you likely have a capacity to bring lightness to any environment that you’re in. You are here to not take life too seriously, have an infectious sense of humor, and remind people of the freedom that comes with trusting that life has a plan that will reveal itself over the course of your life. The ability to laugh at yourself will bring you and others peace, as you’re reminded that your perception of how life “should” go is nothing more than a useless, distracting projection of fear. With the Gift of Lightness, you can experience the fullness of what life has to offer and use everything you learn to your advantage.
Siddhi: Rapture
The Siddhi of a Gene Key is the evolved thrive pattern in your DNA and the natural byproduct of embodying the gift and letting go of the shadow consistently. It’s the highest expression of what we have the capacity to be as human beings and souls. It’s us operating at our most pure, authentic, connected, and whole selves when we’re detached from fear.
The 30th Siddhi of “Rapture” is the essence of feeling intense pleasure or joy. In this Siddhi of Rapture, you realize that the underlying desire beneath ALL desires is the desire to free yourself from your own suffering. Rapture becomes possible when you become aware that you can never fully escape suffering, but you can minimize the weight you add to your suffering. You will create more space to embrace all that life has to offer, even amidst the lows, and as a result, be available for deeper joy.
The experience of this Siddhi, like all Siddhis, is a deep level of piece and safety within your being. You no longer feel like a victim to your desires, but simply acknowledge them and pursue them with openness and trust. When you recognize that your desires are seeds to help you reach your potential and fulfill your life’s path, you can follow them with trust that you’re being divinely guided (even if you can’t see how yet!). You wouldn’t desire something unless it had something to show or teach you.
Dilemma: Temptation
The Dilemma of a Gene Key is an influential factor that will keep you stuck in the Shadow if you don’t become aware of it.
The 30th Dilemma of “Temptation” is the reality that things within our environment will tempt us to blindly pursue our desires and attempt to satiate them, even if it’s to our own detriment. We must explore what is tempting us externally to think that this desire will fulfill some expectation and make our lives better. The more we are attached to our desires, the more strong and influential these sources of temptation become. Notice what is tempting to you to act on a desire out of fear, especially when you can sense that it won’t be beneficial to you.
Related Survival Archetypes
Survival Archetypes are behavioral archetypes that show up in the human experience based on our 4 main survival responses: fight, flight, freeze, fawn. When you know how your survival instincts are showing up in any situation, you can then pinpoint which gene keys may be most useful to work with. Below are the Survival Archetypes that are most closely related to the 30th Gene Key, meaning if this gene key is in your profile or speaks to you, then it’s likely you’re leaning into one of these patterns of behavior below.
The Procrastinator
This is a “flight” survival response in the nervous system. The Procrastinator is someone who is wired to avoid and dissociate from challenges in order to feel safe. Your focus shifts to temporarily alleviating pain through postponement, so deflection becomes essential for survival. Learn more in the Archetype Atlas.
The Victim
This is a “fawn” survival response in the nervous system. The Victim is someone who is wired to surrender to life’s stressors and ride the emotional rollercoaster of challenges in order to feel safe. Your focus regularly shifts to the difficulties you’re going through, so surrendering to the conditions before you becomes essential for survival. Learn more in the Archetype Atlas.
Next Steps With Gene Key 30
Once you have a better understanding of this gene key’s purpose and themes, you can integrate that insight into the Connect the Dots Method - Path 1 (using your personal profile) or Path 2 (using Chrissy’s science-based Survival Archetypes).
The whole purpose of working the gene keys is to give you the awareness and language to rewire your nervous system to associate safety with the evolved higher states (Gift & Siddhi) as opposed to the default fear-based Shadow state you’re used to. By using the CTD Method with consistency and repetition, you develop greater trust to experience your authenticity, wholeness, fulfillment, and potential.
